Personal profile

An accounting professional with over two (2) years experience in audit, financial reporting and accounting services covering a variety of companies in the construction, logistics, information technology and security industry. The passion for finance and the need to diversify stirred the decision to complete an MSc in Finance which further paved the way for a PhD. The PhD dissertation aims to address the issue of gender inequality in top management positions and how women impact the mergers and acquisition deals of companies in the UK. The findings of this study will further provide an understanding of the effects of board gender diversity on the acquisition attempts of UK companies.This research topic conforms with one of the 17 UN sustainability development goals (Gender Equality).

Title

Gender Diversity and Mergers and Acquisitions Performance in the UK: The Moderating Role of Education and Experience

Abstract

The goal of this research is to investigate the impact of board gender diversity on mergers and acquisitions performance of UK companies, this study will also assess the role that education and experience play in making such strategic decisions. To do so, a variety of data will be analyzed over a 20-year period using the annual reports of the various companies chosen. Further information regarding the board composition, educational background, and experience of board members will be obtained from various databases such as Bloomberg, FactSet and BoardEx.
