Personal profile

Jane is a lecturer in Criminology and is undertaking a PhD in the prevention of identity based violence. Jane has worked for international NGOs in conflict affected countries including Afghanistan, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Liberia, Sierra Leone and Eritrea, and has delivered genocide education on the Holocaust, the Srebrenica genocide and the 1994 genocide against the Tutsi in Rwanda.

Research interests/expertise

Jane’s PhD explores communities that prevent identity-based violence in contexts of genocide, civil war and communal unrest. 

Areas of teaching

Jane has taught on a number of criminology modules. She is currently module leader for International Perspectives (third year undergraduate) and Genocides and mass atrocities (second year undergraduate).
