International Welcome Week
International Welcome Week will take place from Monday 16 to Friday 20 September, and runs alongside in-person registration appointments for international students.
It’s a great opportunity to settle into your new home before the start of your course, get advice on living and studying in the UK. It also gives you an opportunity to meet staff and other new students before you begin your studies.
The week will include:
- In-person information and advice on topics such as healthcare, opening a bank account, study skills and working in the UK.
- Tours of the campus and city of Leicester.
- Social events, including ten-pin bowling and other activities to help you meet other new students.
- The opportunity to book onto an optional day trip to Oxford on Friday 20 September.
Sign up to get International Welcome Week updates as they’re announced.
Airport pickup service
We are running a free airport pickup service from London Heathrow Airport (LHR) on Monday 16 September (the first day of the International Welcome programme). The service will take students directly from the airport to the DMU campus.
Airport pickup is available for students with scheduled arrival times up to 3pm on Monday 16 September. Reserve a place by Monday 9 September.
Find out more and book a place on this service. There's also links to travel information (including public transport and taxi providers) if you're arriving on a different date.
Detailed information about arriving, living and studying at DMU is available in the International Student Guide.
Completing your DMU or DMUIC registration
Registration is an in-person event so you must be in the UK to complete the process. Please read the following details carefully and ensure you follow all the instructions.
What you need to do before booking your appointment
You will need to complete online pre-registration – this enables the university to record the information about you which we need to create your registration record. This will include your term-time address (please note this must be within 40 miles of the DMU campus and be the genuine address that you will use during term time).
If you are starting a course at DMU, you must also pay at least 50% of your course fees to the university. If you are starting a foundation or pre-masters course at Â鶹ƵµÀ International College (DMUIC) you must pay 100% of your fees before you can complete your registration.
Once you have completed the necessary steps above you will be sent an email to book your in-person appointment on campus.
What you need to do before attending your appointment
Once you have paid your fees and completed your online pre-registration, you will receive an invitation to book an appointment, by email, from the international registration team.
Instructions on what you will need to do in readiness for your appointment and any documents that you will need to bring with you, will be explained in that email. If you have an EVisa and have an online UKVI account, you will be asked to provide your share code prior to your appointment. This is so we can confirm your immigration status.
Ensure that you check your emails regularly. If we need more information from you or to update you on your registration process we will email you. It is important that you check your emails (including spam folders) regularly to ensure you are up to date.
If you have paid your fees and have completed your online pre-registration but still haven’t received an invite, you can contact the international registration team at internationalregistration@dmu.ac.uk.
What you need to do at your appointment
You will be able to book a 10-minute slot during the registration appointment.
Please arrive shortly before your appointment and ensure you have your passport and visa documents and/or share code ready. We will need to check your identity. We may also take copies of any documents if we do not have a copy of what we need.
During this appointment, your documents will be checked and you will be required to provide your Biometric Residence Permit (BRP) and/or share code to prove your immigration status. If you have been issued a BRP and it has been delivered to the university, this will be handed to you during your appointment. You will also be given your student ID, following your appointment.
