Shalini is a Lecturer in Marketing with a PhD in ‘Stakeholders participation and representations in region branding: The case of Northamptonshire, UK’. Her research investigates stakeholder collaboration and community participation in Place Branding governance and decision making, raising the question, ‘who benefits from such cultural-industrial policies, and why?’.
She has presented her research at various conferences including the Academy of Marketing and Corfu Symposium on Managing and Marketing Places.
She teaches on various UG modules: Brand Management, Marketing Research and Responsible, Ethical and Sustainability Communications. In her first year of teaching at DMU, Shalini was nominated for the Vice-Chancellor’s Distinguished Teaching Award (VCDTA) for providing outstanding feedback to students.
She is currently supervising two PGR students.
She is one of the Co-Chairs for DMU's Women Staff Network.
Previously, Shalini worked as a Brand Manager and Content Strategist for global brands and SMEs in India. Her academic background is in BSc Visual Communication and MA Design and Branding Strategies.
