Dirty Electronics Ensemble
Growing out of Dr John Richards's 'Dirty Electronics' practice, the extracurricular Dirty Electronics Ensemble gave students the opportunity to build experimental instruments and collaborate in the creation of unique performances. The Ensemble has performed widely in the UK, including events at the South Bank, nonclassical and Iklectik. It has also taken part in performances and exchanges with the Royal College of Music Stockholm, the Academy of Performing Arts (HAMU) Prague and Czech Radio, and the Ionian University, Corfu. Students have worked alongside a range of artists and musicians including Japanese noise musician Merzbow, Rolf Gehlhaar (of Stockhausen’s original group), composer Anna Meredith, Poulomi Desai and improvisor Keith Rowe.
